General Description

Ability Heroes is about providing useful and helpful location information to the general public, with an emphasis on accessibility for people with any type of impairment. This could be physical, mental or emotional. To simply visit the site and remember your personal screen settings you become a Subscriber by filling in the Subscriber Application form.

To make this site work and be dynamic in its content we encourage you to participate. You may come across a location that we have not listed yet, but would be accessible for individuals with a disability.

Become a Contributor, collect as much information about the location as possible, take some pictures and upload this to the site via a dedicated form. An Editor will review the information and publish it for you.

Once you have submitted several locations successfully, you can become an Author and publish your own locations. As a member of a local council you can become an Author immediately, after a short introduction, and provide and update information about locations within your council area.

The Organisation role is only available to organisations like councils or universities. A person with the role of Organisation can create a group of users with roles from Subscriber to Organisation. All submissions made by Organisation members can be viewed and edited by the group.

The Administrator manages the site, has access to all posts created by any users, adds and updates users and allocates access authorisations to the individual users. Organisations are also set up by the Administrator by request and a written agreement.

Access levels overview

• Subscriber: Become a member and use the platform. Your screen settings will be remembered and you can update your personal details.
• Contributor: Collect location information and upload it to the platform. Your information will be reviewed by an Editor user before it is published.
• Author: Collect location information and upload it to the platform. Your information will be published without being reviewed. Edit your own contributions at a later stage.
• Editor: Collect location information, upload it to the platform and publish it straight away. Review uploads from Contributors, with the possibility of editing any contributions in the system.
• Organisation: Manage a group of people within your organisation. Add users and allocate roles within the group.
• Administrator: All of the above plus management of users and access levels and setting up of Organisations.
